Coronavirus - Sports Activities (updated May 18th)
At Harpur Hill we love our Sport!
Hello again everyone. I hope we are all healthy and safe and still finding ways to keep fit and active. I’ve attached some fun new ideas that you could include in your daily and weekly routines. I have also listed so more activities and tasks for you to work through!
https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1 - we are still doing the 9am workout every morning in school, however some people have found it quite hard & long. There are more videos on this page that just last 5 minutes and are much more age appropriate.
Below are four great packs from Active Derbyshire which include worksheets and activity ideas for primary children.

And below are some tasks you could get on with that can keep you entertained!
- If you have space build a living room or garden, obstacle course. You could add rules like the floor is lava or only move on hands and feet.
- Build an outdoor fitness circuit for you and the family. You could include a station for star jumps, tuck jumps, push ups, sit ups, balances.
- Walk, Jog or Run a mile a day! You could time yourself if you are jogging or running and try to improve your times
- Create a quiz for your family on sport and be the family quiz master!
- Practise your gymnastics, forward rolls, backwards rolls and cartwheels! Work with you family to create symmetrical and asymmetrical shapes.
- Start your day or and your day with a relaxing Yoga routine. Use cosmic kids from above.
- Create your all-star dream sports team (Football, Netball, Rugby or Cricket) and give them a name, kit, stadium, what players you would sign and make up a song for them.
- Create an all-star team of your friends and give them ratings out of 10 using Top Trumps format.
- Create a Harpur Hill sports poster celebrating all of the sports we have done in PE this year.
- Think of some new sports you would like to try in school and give reasons why.
- Write a sports article of your favourite ever sporting moment. This could be your own moment or a professional one.
- Recreate your favourite ever football goal and video it outside.
- How many catches of a pair of socks can you do in a row. Try with both hands, then left and then right.
- Create a throwing target game for your family. Who has the most accurate throw? Who has the longest throw? Who can throw the highest?

We use some of these videos when we have classroom P.E. lessons and they would be great for students and adults to do together or alone! If you click on Playlists, there should be a list of many different kids' workouts. Can you do at least 1 video a day?

Here are some other activities Coach Danny has chosen for you all to keep fit whilst you are at home! Send in your work to your class teacher and they can forward it onto Danny!

Create a health and safety poster which we can use in the hall.

Invent a new game or sport and write down the rules.

Make a profile of a famous sportsperson.

Make a profile of a local sportsperson e.g. Anna Watkins, Lee Pearson, Adam Peaty, Jessica Sylvester, anyone else you know of!

Write a sports report about a real or made-up sports event.

Make a poster promoting a school PE practice.

Design yourself as a Top Trumps card in your 3 favourite sports.

Design yourself as a FIFA 21 Ultimate team player with accurate ratings.

Make a profile of a football team.

Make a poster about the rules of a particular sport.

“Is chess a sport?” You could choose darts, etc. Argue your case in 200 words.

Make a list of facts about a sport of your choice e.g. pitch size, diameter of ball, number of players etc.

Design a set of interview questions to ask a famous sports person.

Design a sports quiz using PowerPoint.

Design a puzzle (a crossword, word search, anagrams, etc.) with sport as the theme.
