Mr G Wentworth
I was born and educated in Leek and have lived in the windswept village of Flash for the past 10 years. I went to Sheffield Hallam University, where I obtained a BSC Honours in PE with QTS. I am married and have three children. My older two children attend Harpur Hill, one is in Year 2 and the other is in Reception; both following their mother’s footsteps, whom attended the school in the 1980’s.
I have been a PE teacher at Buxton Community School for 14 years now and also act as the Transition Co-ordinator. This involves visiting and working with the catchment Primary Schools and ensuring we gather information about each child that is moving from local primary schools to the Community School. I also help to put on events and activities to ensure students are ready to move up from Year 6 and ensure their transition is as smooth as possible.
I became an elected parent governor in November 2018. I sit on the Full School Governing Body and also the Management and Leadership sub-committee. I am the link governor for Numeracy.
It was an honour to be elected as a Parent Governor and I hope I can pass on some of the knowledge and experience I have gained working in Education; to ensure Harpur Hill continues to thrive and gets the true recognition it deserves!
